If there’s one track you listen to today, make sure it’s ‘Feels’ by Snoh Aalegra. The track is cinematic, soulful and utterly brilliant: Aalegra’s voice has tinges of Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson and the string-led, jazzy backing is reminiscent of a Bond theme for all the right reasons. The Swedish singer has been making music since the age of 14, which explains the confidence in her vocals that soar over a simple backing of string pads and drums. The best thing about ‘Feels’, however, is the deliberately dated production touches that gives ‘Feels’ a spacey, hypnotic and comforting feel. ‘Feels’ follows the recent release of a mini-album titled ‘Don’t Explain’. Keep your eyes out for more from the talented singer - if one thing’s for certain, it’s that Aalegra’s music is sure to keep giving us the ‘Feels’. -HM
